I apologize now for the flood of pictures, but I am not exactly super proficient at this blog layout thing and I want all these pictures for posterity so bear with me. So we started out our summer trip on July 12 by heading to my parents house in Taos, New Mexico. They live in steamboat springs full time but also have a property in Taos. What can I say, they really like the mountains. I personally might choose to purchase a vacation home on a beach where I could bask in the sun and listen to the waves, especially if I lived on a mountain the rest of the year, BUT, it is not my deal so to each his own. I digress.
We drove through the night and arrived in Taos bright and early. My husband promptly went to bed since he had driven all night and was starting to hallucinate from exhaustion. Another family we are close with, The Carters, had joined us for a few days and the moms took the kiddos to an Indian Pueblo Village for a few hours while the daddies slept. The next few days were spent riding dirt bikes (the boys), removing Hayzen's stitches with nail clippers, and relaxing at home!
After 5 days in Taos we headed over to Steamboat to my parents home where we still are. We are beyond blessed to have this time every Christmas, Summer, and Spring Break. My parents take us in, hang out with my unruly boys all day every day, cook us wonderful meals, and let us take over their home. I can't say enough kind things about my dad and stepmom. I couldn't hand pick better parents if I tried. B works every day, but he is able to do it from here which is also awesome. In years past I would bring the kids by myself, but now that his business has grown, he has been able to join us which is AWESOME!!
By the way, as I type this my kids are screaming and wrestling over a fire truck in the other room. So even on vacation they are still a handful. Sigh. I suppose it can't all be rainbows and puppy dogs!
