Well I'm about five weeks behind, but we welcomed Slayde Brecken Roos on April 28th at 7:49 am via c section. Although when he cut me open he realized I was in active labor! He was bigger than Hayzen weighing in at a whopping 7.3 pounds. He is, obviously, a boy, much to Bryan and I's surprise! When the doctor said he was a boy we both were shocked. Bryan actually said "oh wow. wow." We didn't even have a set name! We were thinking of Nash Slayde, but when he came out screaming like crazy we decided he just should be Slayde. Had he been a she, she would have been Jacklyn Sutton and gone by Sutton. Jacklyn is my Grandmother's name.
The best way to explain the last five weeks is on a week by week basis. Week one was unfortunately, not good. Hayzen acted out terribly and Baby had his days and nights mixed up. Fortunately my dad and stepmom were staying with us and cooking, cleaning, and keeping Hayzen happy so that helped A LOT.
Week two all my help dispersed and I was on my own. Also not good. Slayde, at the time, was a perfect baby, just eating and sleeping and minding his own business so I just had to deal with Hayzen who was unfortunately, still Acting Out.
Week three was good. We got into a routine, started getting out, and I was even able to cook dinner every night and enjoy a date night with the hubby.
THEN, the Screaming Started. Slayde decided to scream all day unless he was being held. When I took him into his four week check up the doctor put him on prevacid thinking he has reflux just like Hayzen did. I was devastated thinking I had avoided this with Slayde. The terrible tummy troubles, the fights with insurance to cover it, the cutting out all foods in my diet... etc etc. No such luck. Unfortunately the prevacid is not helping. So I have a newborn I have to hold at all times and a two year old who is now acting out again because his brother gets all of our attention. So it's rough times here at the Roos house for now. I just keep telling myself that this too shall pass. Hayzen was a terrible newborn, but by five months he was an angel and stayed that way til he turned two :)
So here's hoping that Slayde figures this world out soon and we can all relax a little! We are taking him to a newborn chiropractor today to get him adjusted. We heard that helps. I will try anything!
